AT THE OBERWIRT
For many years we have been taking concrete steps to reduce energy use, transport distances and resource consumption at the hotel. We focus on areas where, as a family business, we can make a direct difference.
These are the measures we have already put in place:
REGIONAL PRODUCTS
We source much of our food locally and collaborate with regional producers. This helps avoid unnecessary transport and CO2 emissions. Our delicious apples come from our own farm.
GETTING AROUND
Every guest receives the MeranCard on arrival, giving free use of all public transport in South Tyrol. E-bikes can be rented for a fee, and charging stations are available for electric cars.
OUR TEAM & COMMUNITY
We have always been committed to maintaining and enhancing our home. We maintain long-term partnerships with our employees, support the local community, engage in social projects, and give young people an insight into the hospitality industry.
HEATING & ELECTRICITY
For years, we’ve been heating the Oberwirt with our own wood chip heating system. With our solar panels, we generate green electricity. We also minimize our energy consumption by switching to LED lighting.
MARLING MOUNTAIN WATER
Water is a vital resource. We offer fresh Marling mountain water in our restaurant and in your room. We serve Marling tap water in carafes, so no bottled water has to be delivered by truck.
LOCAL WOOD
All our guest rooms are furnished with locally sourced wood. When renovating, we prefer to work with South Tyrolean companies, which keeps travel distances short.
If you'd like to use your towels more than once, simply hang them up – this saves water, detergent and energy in our laundry.
We keep developing these measures – our reception team is happy to answer any questions.
