From casual to rapid: tour tips at your mountain bike hotel in South Tyrol

  • Pseirer cycling tour from Merano to St. Leonard: 19 kilometre long cycle path through the Passer Valley from Merano to St. Leonard. Ideal for casual riders and families with only a few gradients.
  • Cycling tour from Merano and over the Hecherhof to Burgstall: Short cycling trip through farmlands with vineyards and deciduous woods and wonderful views of Etsch Valley and Ulten Valley. Come back along the old Bolzano road. Duration: 1.5 hours with some steep segments.
  • Along the Etsch cycling path to Bolzano: with the mountain bike form Merano to Bolzano: the tour, which takes in both of South Tyrol's biggest towns, is almost free of gradients and idyllically follows the Eisack and Etsch rivers. By bike for a shopping trip of for something cultural - along the Via Claudia Augusta cycle route. Thats biking in South Tyrol! Almost 30 kilometres in length and 1.5 to 2 hours duration, mostly on tarmac cycle paths.

An adrenaline kick on the mountain bike at Hotel Oberwirt in South Tyrol

Downhill fans will find some exciting challenges awaiting them in the mountains of South Tyrol – the first of them is right outside the Oberwirt's front door, your mountain bike hotel in Marling in South Tyrol. Our suggestion: first cycle to Lebenberg Castle to the Tschigg Inn at over 900 metres. Then follow the forest trail to the Almboden clearing at 1,350 metres. From there its over the Eggerhöfe and past St. Martin to the bottom of the valley, over River Etsch, along the cycle path to Algund and Merano and up to Marling once again. Around 25 kilometres, 1,100 metres altitude and duration of around 4 hours. Three uphills, four downhills and four panoramas.
